Live Experience Design

Last call theatre - the butterfly effect - narrative designer

In The Butterfly Effect, audiences attend the re-opening of the Connection Café where time travel is rumored to occur. When a tragedy occurs at the open mic in the middle of the event, the audience travels back in time to prevent it using their knowledge of the future. My work focused on the antagonist of the show who kills someone to power the time travel ritual to go back in time and save his dead wife. Writing this plotline, I had to consider different ways an audience would interact with this character after witnessing this event, exploring themes of grief and moving on.

Last Call Theatre - Pirates Wanted - Narrative Designer & Dramaturg

Pirates Wanted invites audience members aboard a recently commandeered pirate ships as new recruits. Players receive pirate training through mini games and aid characters in staging a mutiny, finding love, and discovering familial relations. Working on plotlines relating to the mutiny and sirens, I engaged themes surrounding resistance and trans identity respectively. I presented research on queer collectivity that emerges from playing in a queered pirate world at the 2025 Queerness and Games Conference in Montreal, blending my scholarly and creative practices. As production dramaturg, I conducted research on the Golden Age of Piracy to aid writing and production.

Ascend: When myths fall, heroes rise - Narrative Designer & Actor

As gods from a variety of godly pantheons meet at a family reunion, the audience members took on the role of their demigod children to follow mythic stories and support one of two opposing sides in a heavenly power struggle. As a narrative designer, I researched the Greek, Maya, Egyptian, and Chinese pantheons, pitched characters and stories, and designed quests on a collaborative team.

This video example is this live immersive gamified experience, where, working with a team of narrative designers, I wove together the stories of 26 gods from 4 mythological pantheons, creating the lore of the world that united them, developing characters, and crafting quests for an audience of 400 participants to play through.
